TyBro-Style: New Years

So grateful to have met good friends already here in OK - ones that open their homes and invited us to ring in 2012 with them (kids, too!)  Game night, a little champagne, maybe some karaoke? Sweet! Sounded like a good time, and it was!  And a welcome break from hosting after a chaotic (but ridiculously fun!) full-house for Christmas.

When we got to the party, my clever friend had these waiting for the kids:

A bag to open every HOUR until midnight!
The kids were literally clawing at the bags when the timer went off for each hour.
She had loaded the bags with with various goodies (including mini Lego kits, glow sticks, etc.) and the kids loved it.
So clever!

And I found another version of the idea on "The Dating Diva's" blog:

(If you have time, you need to 'thumb' through their blog - they have a gazillion great ideas!)

Also did this with the kids - (cute printable found HERE)

And then I saw this and will update with a photo of my jar once it's complete.  Love this idea! I want my family to participate so we might try make this a weekly thing - a good reminder to look back on the week and point out at least one great thing that happened.  We already try to discuss daily "high's" and "low's" in the car or at the dinner table, so this goes along with that idea.

"Throughout the year, write down memories that make you smile. On New Year's Eve, open it up and reread all of the good stuff that made the year wonderful!"
