T's Closet
I have found that you've got to make a
bit of a mess in order to get it organized, but I think we're back on
track with utilizing this space.
T has a double closet which is great in some ways, but limiting in others.
It's
limiting in that it takes up one whole wall so his bed can only go
along the opposite wall and his dresser can only fit in one space
between the windows.
No room for a desk...or so we thought!
Left-side Closet BEFORE:
Note
the storage containers and baskets just piled up on top of each other
and the stacks of sweatshirts and long-sleeved t-shirts ready to tumble
over.
Left-side Closet AFTER:
Still
feels 'full' to me, but I guess that's what closets are for! We added
hanging stackable bins for the t-shirts and sweatshirts and
re-distributed the bins/baskets to make it easier to grab sports
equipment on the go. Hopefully this will eliminate the frantic search
for a baseball belt ten minutes before the game...
not that we've ever experienced that or anything...
Right-side closet BEFORE:
Not
a horrible mess - just dead, empty space that we thought would make a
good 'reading nook', but never really got used for that purpose.
Right-side closet (AFTER):
We added a narrow computer table - from Target - to make a quiet place to do Homework.
Also added a HW chart so we can plot our days in hopes of avoiding the Thursday-night panic...
Now
we have a workable space for clothes, sports equipment/uniforms, etc.
and a homework space WITH a desk! And the best part is that I can close
the doors on both.
Next up - The Pantry...
